This one was a nice surprise! It's
Stop Making Sense by Talking Heads. Can't say I'm an uberfan of the Heads, but this one I do like a lot. I got the cassette tape back in '85 or so (I think I traded it for a cassette of Dokken's
Under Lock And Key) and it got a lot of airplay in my boom box! I particularly liked the song
Once In A Lifetime because of
Tina Weymouth's bass line. As a matter of fact, I had one of those stereos that had a timer/alarm thing where you could set it up to go on at a particular time, and I cued the tape to the beginning of the song to wake me up. The ironic thing is that even though I sleep like a log, I am able to wake/get up rather quickly, so the tape almost never got to the bass part! This is one I never got on CD for some reason until now (cheap too! lol).
I know now that not all the songs in the film are in this CD, that there were edits and the acoustic drums were replaced by drum machine, and that there is another release that has all, etc. but this one has a special place because it reminds me of a simpler time in my life, and of a lot of musical discovery. I like it just the way it is.
This one was made in Japan apparently for the UK/US. Also, my information source for target CD's says: "This disc is fairly easy to find" of course! I like the color scheme, particularly the blue:
