Just when I thought I was out...

By now you are probably aware that I like 70's progressive rock a lot, particularly Emerson, Lake & Palmer. It's nice to remember discovering this band, listening to the stuff for the first time and being like totally amazed. There used to be a used book store downtown back in the 80's and they sold used LP's too. I got a lot of records there usually for anywhere from $1 to $4 (my parents still maintain that I must have spent a fortune there, but I really didn't!). I got the bulk of ELP records there. One of them was Pictures At An Exhibition. With the exception of two tracks, I never got into this one as much as I did with the others, but with the passage of time, I have warmed up to it more and more. That brings me to my next target CD:

So ELP is the first band in my collection with two target CD's! There is another variation of this one (teal). According to the target CD source, "This disc is common, unlike the teal variation, which is scarce". Ha!

I'm sure everyone remembers the funny Twisted Sister music videos from a long time ago. I always liked the guy at the beginning who totally yells! He's awesome. I had Stay Hungry on LP as well as other TS releases, and had never upgraded to CD... until now! This is one that I actually held off getting until I could find a target. The target reference place lists this one as not being particularly easy to find, and I wanted to prove it wrong (in my mind at least), so here it is:

The disc is in really good shape! Not mint, but as good as can be expected given its age. This is the skinny on it: "This disc is hard to find, but not impossible. Condition is a real problem. Most copies seem to be pretty beat up. A nice mint copy is to be prized. Apparently, metal fans like to use their CD's as frisbees". My CD's as frisbees? I beg to differ!

By the way, there is one other target CD that I would like to have , and it is Dio's The Last In Line. Got one?

Now, for a totally different type of thing. I've been a fan of Tango music since I was a little kid. My grandfather used to listen to one Tango song in particular (Cuesta Abajo - it's a movie as well), and it's probably my favorite. My favorite Tango singer is Carlos Gardel. He was around before my time, but I think he was a superb singer and enjoy his recordings very much. A long time ago, I got a cassette tape by a trio called The Tango Project. I liked their instrumental versions of Tango standards a lot and up until a few years, the tape got quite a bit of airplay. Well, a few days ago, I was walking out of the used music shop, when I happened to glance at the CD in one of the bins. Since it was only like 5 bucks (I would have paid full price for it) I picked it up on the spot. When I opened it, to my surprise it was a target CD! So here it is:

Now I know there is a second CD by The Tango Project. I'm not going to look for a target though since apparently it's pretty impossible to find. This is what the target reference place has to say about this one: "Like all Nonesuch target discs, this is quite uncommon, though it is slightly easier to find than most". Yeah, rain on my parade man. :)
